Poster Mock Up Two

After receiving feedback from my previous poster mock up, I sought to make any appropriate changes. However, some feedback was to include the background of the image as the background of the poster, however, as I do not yet have the image I will be using, I am unable to what the background of the image will look like. For this mock up, I have left the background white so that the target audience is able to see how the font will look as there is no distractions from the presence of images.

Feedback:

Amy Pass- The poster still seems very plain and basic. I feel that the poster looks very unprofessional and boring. However, in saying that, I think that once you have photos instead of making your own picture of the actress then it will look at lot better.

Rachel Hilton- I prefer this poster to the last one. I think by having the actress not in the centre has a good effect on the poster as it looks a little more unconventional. Also, this poster has more information on it, such as the artist name, whereas the last one didn't.

Alex Machin- The poster will look a lot better when a photograph can be used. However, I think that the heart looks very "handmade" and is not an accurate heart shape. In my opinion, I think that if you are going to feature a heart on your poster then ensure that it is an accurate and professional looking one. Although, depending on the outfit that the actress wears depends on whether or not I would use it.

Meg Marlow- I really like the font, as it brings a youthful aspect to the product. However, I do feel that this poster is very basic and simple and that a phtograph needs to be used.
I will take into consideration the feedback given and make any necessary changes that me and my target audience feel necessary.

Poster Mock Up One

I have decided to create a number of mock-ups of the promotional poster for my music video. I feel that by creating a number of mock ups, I can find out what style my target audience prefer and also feedback will allow me to make any necessary changes.

On my actual poster I will not use a face created in paint, instead I will photograph my actress. However, I decided that it would be a waste of time to take photos of my actress before I had any ideas on what I was doing. Therefore for my initial ideas I will use drawings.

Feedback-

Amy Pass: I like the font and how the font behind looks like a shadow. However, I think you should think about the background as it looks very plain, maybe you could incorporate some relative images.

Rachel Hilton: I think that the image of the actress should be a long shot and that she should be wearing clothes that matches the colour scheme, therefore allowing an obvious connection between the image and the font.

Alex Machin: I think that the actress should not simply be looking into the camera, I personally feel that she could be pulling some sort of pose that portrays the flirty aspect of the song.

Sarah Hall: As you will be filming the video in a bedroom, I think that you should photograph the actress in one of the particular scenes, and include the background of the room where you film in the photo so that it is clear that this song relates to the poster.

I will now create another mock up, taking into consideration the feedback given.

Shooting Plan

Due to christmas, all of my actors schedules have been full and we have been unable to meet at times that would suit all of us, myself included and so instead of shooting when I had hoped, I have had to plan shooting for another time. As the video will be shot using artficial light, the time of day is not important and as a result I can film as soon as possible at any time.

In the meantime however, I have been constructing basic initial plans for my other products, however, they are missing images as I will take photos on the day of the video to ensure that there is an obvious link between my media products.

New Idea

Instead of trying to be unconventional, I feel that it will be easier yet still effective if I take a more conventional approach to my media video. My initial idea was to feature all females in my music video, however, after much deliberation I feel that it may be difficult for me to make a female look like a convincing male and not just a butch female. Therefore, after asking around I have found myself a male actor, Lance Boden. He will take up the role of the male in my music video and therefore me and my actors will need to work out a time which will fit all of our schedules.

Colour Scheme Feedback

I sought feedback from my target audience of teenagers, both male and female so that I could see what colour schemes they preferred or whether or not they actually liked the colours that I had put together.

Amy Pass- My favourite colour scheme is the Black, Red and Blue one as I feel that it is very bright and vibrant and catches the eye instantly. My least favourite was the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel that it is a little too dull for my liking.

Alex Machin- My favourite is the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme as I feel that it would appeal to stereotypical females and also it would appeal to 'metro sexual' males. As it is not conventional, it has an element of cool and sophistication to it, as well as linking in with the romantic theme and feel to the song. My least favourite is the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel that it does not highlight the song, nor the song title.

Charlie Clarke- My favourite is the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme because I think that it is bright and vibrant and eye catching. I really like the fact the the colour scheme highlights the feminine feel to the song and so it would definitely appeal to a vast audience. My least favourite colour scheme is the Black, Red and Blue one as it seems to be lacking in a feminine element. I feel that this colour scheme would only attract males and may lead to females being put off the music video and products as it is very masculine.

Kris Siddall- The colour scheme that I prefer is the Black, Red and Blue. I like this colour scheme the best as I feel they are the conventional, neutral colours that I believe would attract a large audience. Also, the colours in this colour scheme are really bright and vibrant and therefore stands out to the audiences' eye. My only problem with these colours however, is that the blue and red seem to be competing for attention and I think that if you chose this as your final colour scheme then you should consider making either the red or the blue a darker colour to allow them to compliment each other and stand out.

Mikey Harding- I really like the Black, Grey and Navy colour scheme as the grey and black allow the blue to stand out. Also, this colour has a masculine feel to it and therefore I think that it will attract males and, with the title and font of the song, I believe a darker colour scheme will give your products more of an 'edge' as they are unconventional compared to the feel of the music.

Jack Barlow- In my opinion, the Black, Grey and Green Colour scheme is the one that stands out because I feel that it reflects the style of the music and the colours are also appealing to both males and females, thus making it an ideal colour scheme.

Rachel Hilton- My favourite colour scheme is the Black, Pink and Violet one as I feel that it reflects the feel and name of the song unconventionally, yet perfectly. The colours are bright and vibrant and therefore I feel instantly attracted to them as they make me feel happy and consequently I want to watch it. The colour scheme that I would recommend not using would have to be the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel it is too dull and boring.

From the feedback I was given, and my own personal opinions on the feedback, I have decided to use the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme as that is what, on the whole, my target audience preferred.

Colour Scheme Ideas

I conducted four colour schemes, all of them featuring different colours and different tones. However, one thing that I have kept in common with all of these colour schemes is the colour black, due to it being a versatile colour. Also, I have kept the background white on the samples of colour schemes so I feel that by including black in the colour scheme my target audience who I will survey will be able to colours next to both a light and a drak colour.

Colour Scheme One- Black, Grey and Green

Colour Scheme Two- Black, Red and Blue

Colour Scheme Three- Black, Pink and Violet

Colour Scheme Four- Black, Grey and Navy

I will now conduct a survey on my target audience to see which colour scheme they prefer. I will show them my chosen font, the song name and also allow them to listen to the song if they have not heard the song before so that everybody who is surveyed has a fair knowledge about my project.

Chosen Font

I asked 20 people from my target audience which font they preferred for my products. I told each member my chosen song and allowed them to listen to it so that they were able to hear the genre for themselves and could make their own decision. I will use the font that my target audience has chosen for my final font and I will then conduct a number of colour schemes that you reflect my chosen font and also the genre and feel of my song.

It is clear from the graph that my target audience prefer the first font, "Gloria Hallelujah". I will therefore use this font as the font for my products such as the poster and CD case. Although my font has been chosen, I feel that in order to grasp what my target audience is looking for I should ask those who were surveyed on feedback and their reasons for choosing the font that they did.

Amy Pass: I really like the second font because I feel it has a modern and electronic feel to it and therefore I feel that it reflects the feel of the song. However, looking at all of the fonts, they all emphasise the different parts of the song, personally though, I prefer the second one but I think it depends on the colour scheme.

Rachel Hilton: My favourite font is the first one as it is seems casual, yet it is easily readable and has a fun element to it. I especially like the heart at the end, I feel that this adds a touch of femininity to the title, which is ironic as the title is called "Boys Boys Boys". Also, the heart and the font will appeal to teenage females, which is your target audience.

Alex Machin: My favourite font is the first one as it has a cool and modern vibe to it, which matches the song and therefore I believe that it would be the best match for your song. My least favourite is font number five as I feel that it holds not relevance to the song and does not portray the song very well.

Sarah Hall: Font number six catches my attention the most because it is the boldest out of all of the fonts. This font is the one I think that you should have as your final font as it is very eye catching and, with the right colour scheme could be really vibrant and young.

Charlie Clarke: Font number three is my favourite. It is quirky, young and unconventional and I really like it. However, I dont like font number two as I feel that it is very plain and boring.

After research and feedback from my target market, I now have my chosen font "Gloria Hallelujah", and I will now construct a number of different colour schemes so that I can see my products taking shape and also see what colour scheme suits my music best.
