Colour Scheme Feedback

I sought feedback from my target audience of teenagers, both male and female so that I could see what colour schemes they preferred or whether or not they actually liked the colours that I had put together.

Amy Pass- My favourite colour scheme is the Black, Red and Blue one as I feel that it is very bright and vibrant and catches the eye instantly. My least favourite was the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel that it is a little too dull for my liking.

Alex Machin- My favourite is the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme as I feel that it would appeal to stereotypical females and also it would appeal to 'metro sexual' males. As it is not conventional, it has an element of cool and sophistication to it, as well as linking in with the romantic theme and feel to the song. My least favourite is the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel that it does not highlight the song, nor the song title.

Charlie Clarke- My favourite is the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme because I think that it is bright and vibrant and eye catching. I really like the fact the the colour scheme highlights the feminine feel to the song and so it would definitely appeal to a vast audience. My least favourite colour scheme is the Black, Red and Blue one as it seems to be lacking in a feminine element. I feel that this colour scheme would only attract males and may lead to females being put off the music video and products as it is very masculine.

Kris Siddall- The colour scheme that I prefer is the Black, Red and Blue. I like this colour scheme the best as I feel they are the conventional, neutral colours that I believe would attract a large audience. Also, the colours in this colour scheme are really bright and vibrant and therefore stands out to the audiences' eye. My only problem with these colours however, is that the blue and red seem to be competing for attention and I think that if you chose this as your final colour scheme then you should consider making either the red or the blue a darker colour to allow them to compliment each other and stand out.

Mikey Harding- I really like the Black, Grey and Navy colour scheme as the grey and black allow the blue to stand out. Also, this colour has a masculine feel to it and therefore I think that it will attract males and, with the title and font of the song, I believe a darker colour scheme will give your products more of an 'edge' as they are unconventional compared to the feel of the music.

Jack Barlow- In my opinion, the Black, Grey and Green Colour scheme is the one that stands out because I feel that it reflects the style of the music and the colours are also appealing to both males and females, thus making it an ideal colour scheme.

Rachel Hilton- My favourite colour scheme is the Black, Pink and Violet one as I feel that it reflects the feel and name of the song unconventionally, yet perfectly. The colours are bright and vibrant and therefore I feel instantly attracted to them as they make me feel happy and consequently I want to watch it. The colour scheme that I would recommend not using would have to be the Black, Grey and Green colour scheme as I feel it is too dull and boring.

From the feedback I was given, and my own personal opinions on the feedback, I have decided to use the Black, Pink and Violet colour scheme as that is what, on the whole, my target audience preferred.

Colour Scheme Ideas

I conducted four colour schemes, all of them featuring different colours and different tones. However, one thing that I have kept in common with all of these colour schemes is the colour black, due to it being a versatile colour. Also, I have kept the background white on the samples of colour schemes so I feel that by including black in the colour scheme my target audience who I will survey will be able to colours next to both a light and a drak colour.

Colour Scheme One- Black, Grey and Green

Colour Scheme Two- Black, Red and Blue

Colour Scheme Three- Black, Pink and Violet

Colour Scheme Four- Black, Grey and Navy

I will now conduct a survey on my target audience to see which colour scheme they prefer. I will show them my chosen font, the song name and also allow them to listen to the song if they have not heard the song before so that everybody who is surveyed has a fair knowledge about my project.

Chosen Font

I asked 20 people from my target audience which font they preferred for my products. I told each member my chosen song and allowed them to listen to it so that they were able to hear the genre for themselves and could make their own decision. I will use the font that my target audience has chosen for my final font and I will then conduct a number of colour schemes that you reflect my chosen font and also the genre and feel of my song.

It is clear from the graph that my target audience prefer the first font, "Gloria Hallelujah". I will therefore use this font as the font for my products such as the poster and CD case. Although my font has been chosen, I feel that in order to grasp what my target audience is looking for I should ask those who were surveyed on feedback and their reasons for choosing the font that they did.

Amy Pass: I really like the second font because I feel it has a modern and electronic feel to it and therefore I feel that it reflects the feel of the song. However, looking at all of the fonts, they all emphasise the different parts of the song, personally though, I prefer the second one but I think it depends on the colour scheme.

Rachel Hilton: My favourite font is the first one as it is seems casual, yet it is easily readable and has a fun element to it. I especially like the heart at the end, I feel that this adds a touch of femininity to the title, which is ironic as the title is called "Boys Boys Boys". Also, the heart and the font will appeal to teenage females, which is your target audience.

Alex Machin: My favourite font is the first one as it has a cool and modern vibe to it, which matches the song and therefore I believe that it would be the best match for your song. My least favourite is font number five as I feel that it holds not relevance to the song and does not portray the song very well.

Sarah Hall: Font number six catches my attention the most because it is the boldest out of all of the fonts. This font is the one I think that you should have as your final font as it is very eye catching and, with the right colour scheme could be really vibrant and young.

Charlie Clarke: Font number three is my favourite. It is quirky, young and unconventional and I really like it. However, I dont like font number two as I feel that it is very plain and boring.

After research and feedback from my target market, I now have my chosen font "Gloria Hallelujah", and I will now construct a number of different colour schemes so that I can see my products taking shape and also see what colour scheme suits my music best.
